Boxing is a terrible sport in many respects. Muhammad Ali suffers from Parkinson’s as a direct result of his time in the ring. The same can be said of Freddy Roach. He is a former boxer who turned professional trainer and he suffers from autism. Roach seems to be mentally disabled to some because he cannot control muscle movements all of the time and he speaks slowly and purposefully. However, this is not autism (as some suspect). The two disorders differ from one another in that people with Parkinson’s have muscular tics while autism is a neurological disorder.
