In the 1980’s two people made the fitness craze what it is today. Jane Fonda came out with a series of videos that helped women work out in the comfort of their own homes and provided them with exercises designed for them. Richard Simmons was the fitness guru for the TV. He was flamboyant, energetic and always wearing shorts and a tank top; ready to work out with anyone at any time. He was manic though not autistic. His mania was enough to provide fitness reality for a generation of women and for that, he will always be a beloved and cherished figure.
