He also produced Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant’s radio show on XFM, and appeared on Gervais’s 2012 comedy-drama series, Derek. Pilkington was often the butt of Ricky Gervais’s practical jokes on The Ricky Gervais Show podcasts, leading many to question whether his comedy persona was a creation of Ricky Gervais. Both men claim that the show was entirely unscripted. There is no evidence that Karl Pilkington is on the autism spectrum.
