The author of Flowers for Algernon certainly created Gordon to be a character with some sort of special needs. Many people seem to think that he has some degree of Asperger’s Syndrome. Gordon finds it hard to relate to adults, he interacted poorly with his peers, he was obsessed with routines and had other signs of obsessive compulsive disorder.
